shades. these are most likely going to be my summer "splurge". they're limited edition named "wayfarer flowers" i like the matte navy frame and the floral detail on the inside. i've never owned a pair of nice sunglasses before. wait. i've owned nice sunglasses, but none that have been more than $50. i've had the same pair of sunglasses (they were $30 at winners) for almost a year and half. i think i've proven to myself that i can handle the responsibility of not sitting on my sunglasses. anyways, with or without these cute shades, i will definitely be protecting my eyes from the sun. nothing is worse than burnt eyeballs and premature crows feet. nothing.spf. at LEAST a 30 every day. no joke guys. on those longer days it will definitely be kicked up to a 60. for my face i use Clarins UV plus HP (soo amazing. its oil free, and mineral based. not chemical. which i mean... i dont really care about the chemicals, but they make my skin sensative. just be careful because some people are more sensative to mineral sunscreens as opposed to chemical sunscreens. be aware of itching/burning eyes, blotchy red skin, or just an over all uncomfortable feeling on your skin.) for my body i use B. Kamins. again it's oil free and so awesome. you could use it on your face, but i find it not as light as the Clarins one. don't forget the tops of your hands/feet. nothing is worse than trying to wear shoes when you have lobsters for feet.
**i attempted to have pictures of ALL of my favorite products, but i haven't got that far yet... so you'll just have to use your imagination. or google. both are good**
beach hair. i will do this with my frederic fekkai beach waves spray. i love it. i absolutely love it. it's definitely in my top 10 favorites product list. why is it so awesome you ask? because A) ALL of fekkai's products in the "summer hair" collection have sun protection for your hair (yes your hair ages and gets damaged by the sun just like your skin) so it helps to keep your hair soft and the opposite of brittle. B) it smells so good. like your on some tropical isle. although my long locks are soon to be gone, i will enjoy them while they are here and most likely use up the rest of my beach waves (i have less than a cm left, and correct me if i'm wrong... but i think it's been discontinued.) **stay tuned for before and after pictures of my hair journey**
jelly shoes. a few weeks ago on one of my many trips through winners, i came across some really good jelly shoes. they are so comfortable! and as of right now i am convinced they are way better than sandles. so this summer i will trade in my flip flops for jelly flats.(WARNING: here's what they don't tell you on the label. when left in the sun, the jelly WILL get super hot and soft and tear. i learned by experience. i will attempt to melt them back together with a hair dryer. i'll let you know how it goes.) nothing is worse than broken jelly shoes right before you've declared them a summer staple :(
camera. Ben got me a camera for my birthday. it's been living comfortabley in my purse for the last month (birthday post to come. i will go into detail about my special day). because i've been without a camera for so long, i am making up for lost time. the thing is, i take so many pictures and then don't get them developed (my mother in law can back me up on that. she still hasn't got her pictures from our wedding) i have so many cute albums that are waiting to be filled with the early memories of our married life. i will get myself organized one day. nothing is worse than a priceless moment not caught on camera.
bug spray. i refuse to be taken advantage of by misquitos this year. misquitos were created to feed the jack-jackets. quite frankly i feel that the world would be a better place without either of them.
so far those are the things i won't be without this summer... keep checking though, because you never know when i'll be inspired to whip up another "must-haves" list.
